About the Provider

Miriam Torres-Acosta/Founder & Lead Educator

Hi, I’m Miriam! I’ve been a licensed home daycare provider since 2021 and currently teach Pre-K at a well-established play-based school in San Leandro. I created Miriam’s Casita to offer children a warm, playful, and nature-inspired environment where they feel safe, seen, and supported.

I have experience working with children across a wide range of developmental stages, including toddlers, preschoolers, Pre-K, and early elementary-aged children. I’m passionate about helping children grow socially, emotionally, and academically while honoring their individual strengths.

Some highlights of my experience:
* Licensed child care provider since 2021
* 2+ years running a bilingual, outdoor, eco-conscious educational program
* Current Pre-K teacher at a play-based school
* Former Head Start toddler teacher
* Experienced in supporting social-emotional development and diverse learning needs

My philosophy and values:
I believe in play-based, child-led learning that nurtures curiosity and creativity. I provide a bilingual environment to support early language development, and I incorporate eco-conscious practices such as gardening, recycling, and sensory play. My approach is trauma-informed, helping children build social-emotional skills, resilience, and confidence in a safe and nurturing space.

✨ A personal note:

“I love seeing children explore the world with wonder and joy, and I feel honored to support their growth every day.”

I am dedicated to partnering closely with families, creating a home-like space that provides flexible, high-quality care and meaningful learning experiences. Miriam’s Casita is designed for families seeking part-time enrichment, preschool preparation, or short-day childcare that combines play, learning, and social-emotional support.
